This collection of digital collage works and sketches which were developed as part of the artists research for the Image Collective publication.
Grace Wood is an artist from Narrm, Australia. In 2014, she graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours). Grace creates collage-based installations that anatomise eccentricities of the internet archive, sybaritic notions of elitist art history, and anachronistic displays of the contemporary photographic document. Her work is concerned with ideas prevalent in contemporary photographic discourse on the archive and digital technology’s capacity to generate, alter and namelessly disperse images.
Grace has exhibited extensively in Australia and her work is held in public and private collections nationally. Some recent exhibitions include 'There are no new waves, only ocean', LON Gallery, VIC, 2020; 'Ersatz', Cool Change Contemporary, WA, 2019; 'The world, a liver', Mayfair Gallery, NT, 2019; 'Looking but not seeing', Benalla Art Gallery, VIC, 2018; 'There is a pain - so utter', Gertrude Glasshouse, VIC, 2018 and 'Like a Hasselblad on the moon', West Space, VIC, 2017. Grace completed a public commission for City of Stonnington and Mars Gallery (VIC) in 2020 and undertook the AARK Archipelago Art Residency, Finland in 2019.
Grace is represented by LON Gallery, Melbourne.
